Word on Fire Catholic Ministries is a nonprofit global media apostolate that supports the work of Bishop Robert Barron and reaches millions of people to draw them into—or back to—the Catholic faith.
The IT Manager is responsible for creating innovative and adaptable solutions to Word on Fire’s IT needs. The IT Manager works with leadership to manage Word on Fire’s network, hardware, and film studio technology needs.

Responsibilities
- Leadership and management of Word on Fire’s IT employee(s)
- Ownership of our networked high-capacity file storage and high-speed fiber networking for our film studio video storage workloads
- Perform expert level troubleshooting on employees' computers for common issues
- Manage Word on Fire’s help desk and IT ticketing system and respond in a timely manner
- Oversee the onboarding and offboarding employee’s technology equipment in conjunction with human resources
- Maintain an inventory of Word on Fire’s computer hardware
- Alert Word on Fire leadership to IT-related challenges, such as network security, automation, software selection, and access provisioning
- Manage Word on Fire firewalls and network infrastructure
- Manage Word on Fire’s IT budget
- Write policies and procedures to manage Word on Fire’s IT infrastructure, including fair use, password policies, and lifecycle requirements
- Manage Word on Fire's IT training programs to educate employees on IT policies and best practices within the organization
- Travel approximately 15% of the time, primary to Word on Fire’s Rochester, MN, and Chicago, IL, offices
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in an IT field such as direct support, networking, server administration, or cloud infrastructure
- Ability to lead and manage a team of IT professionals
- Expertise of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, firewall rules, WiFi, and VPNs
- Expertise of the MacOS operating system and how to troubleshoot common employee issues
- Familiarity of Google Workspace administration or similar business productivity suite administration
- Expertise of basic server administration such as users, roles, processes and ports
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Expertise in troubleshooting, lifecycle management, administration, and networking
- Ability to learn quickly and find new solutions to IT problems
- Ability to travel approximately 15% of the time, primary to Word on Fire’s Rochester, MN, and Chicago, IL, offices

Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the work of Bishop Robert Barron and Word on Fire
- Experience with Media Asset Managers such as SNS Sharebrowser or Facilis
- Experience with file servers and storage solutions such as TrueNas or Synology
- Experience with Ubiquiti or similar network appliances
- Experience with WatchGuard Firebox security appliances
- Experience with mobile device management software such as Rippling
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated base pay range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 annually. Word on Fire determines individual compensation on several factors, including but not limited to, experience, skills, alignment with the role’s responsibilities, and geographic location. This role may be eligible for annual merit increases based on individual performance.
